The ideal candidate will take an active role in the development, research, testing, and maintenance of both external and internal software applications for equipment servicing the telecommunications industry. The position is ideal for someone with initiative and ability to work well both as part of a group as well as an independent developer on individual projects.
This position will receive technical direction from other Software Engineers as required, will work cooperatively with others from multiple disciplines, and will take direction from management/supervisor level positions. Support of customers, marketing and other disciplines is also required.
The Junior Software Engineer will design, implement and integrate software libraries, GUI modules and other such components to control telecommunications equipment Development platforms include Windows, Linux and Android. The Junior Software Engineer will create and update software requirements specifications, write and review software design and test documents and will participate in code reviews.
An understanding of the creation and implementation of software libraries, memory management techniques, multithreading, data exporting/importing, and similar disciplines is required. Knowledge of GUI design is also required for both designing and debugging of code.
The successful candidate must possess strong communications skills, a "can-do" positive attitude, for a demonstrated ability to meet deadlines, a creative imagination, and an ability to adjust to fast-changing requirements. It is expected that the candidate will keep current with new software development techniques and technologies.
An active US government security clearance is a strong plus. Minimally, the candidate must be able to obtain a clearance when sponsored by QRC.
0-2 years of workplace experience designing and developing PC- and/or Phone-based software applications.
Knowledge of software design methodologies (OOD, OOP), Visual C/C++, C#, Java, multithreading, synchronization, and blocking mechanisms
Experience with Android/Linux app development using Java and Eclipse is a strong plus
Experience in developing requirements definitions and functional specifications is a strong plus
Ability to obtain a US government security clearance.
Cellular communication knowledge/experience is a plus (e.g., WCDMA, GSM, CDMA/EVDO, WiMAX, LTE etc.
