Job Requirements

Health Care Services (HCS)
The mission of HCS is to improve member health while managing cost is at the core of everything Health Care Services delivers each day. HCS serves the entire population and offers comprehensive care management solutions to cover the spectrum of care - from healthy to those living with chronic conditions.

The Senior Medical Director Premier & Strategic Accounts position is dedicated to supporting the Employer Markets line of business ($7 billion in revenues) that includes the sales, marketing and account services teams, so as to promote growth and increased market share, and supports HCS so as to ensure that HCS products and services anticipate and meet the needs of our customers, both internal and external. Reporting to the VP Clinical Quality, Network & Markets Support, this position provides clinical input to the sales team and sales processes and interacts directly with clients. Position also oversees one Medical Director and an Administrative Lead.

Essential Duties:
• Lead client and producer facing activities including finalist presentations and account services meetings, broker and consultant meetings
• Actively participate in and guide the preparation meetings in advance of the client meetings. Includes interpreting clinical data for clients at regular quarterly, annual or biyearly meetings. 40%
• Responsible for the planning, development, and lead the delivery of HCS related materials to clients, producers and business associations that describe and explain the operational details and value of HCS capabilities, services and programs. Includes working with the Health Data Reporting teams to analyze data trends and develop external customer reports. 15%
• Work collaboratively with other HCS and BSC staff to quickly resolve client service issues, with particular emphasis on clinical issues. Be available to talk with key account members about their issues and the solutions. 15%
• Act as a strategic thought-partner for key clients who want best-in-class medical, health and wellness programs. 15%
• Be a strategic thought partner for Health Care Services to develop best in class health management capabilities and help with designing and implementing some of the innovations to address the market needs. 15%

Minimum Requirements:
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills, including ability to speak comfortably and extemporaneously to diverse audiences
• Ability to explain program, clinical, operational, and quantitative information in a business-like, clear, coherent, and comprehensible way to lay people
• Strong quantitative and analytic skills working with claims, operational, and clinical data and reports
• Excellent interpersonal communication skills, including active listening, self-management and awareness, emotional intelligence, and ability to flex interpersonal style situational
• Collaborative approach
• Good skills with negotiation and creative problem solving
• Strong skills with Microsoft Office Suite, including PowerPoint, Excel, Word and Outlook.

Minimum Requirements:
• Minimum 10 years managed care experience
• At least five years clinical experience
• Strong familiarity with California managed care marketplace
• Up to 25% travel within California expected

• Prior health plan experience preferred
• Prior experience with Blues Plans.
• Previous experience in similar sales role.
• Prior experience as a people manager

Minimum: Unencumbered California license (MD)
