Job Description


As a key member of the Industrial Services business management team, to work closely with the following key people / groups:

•Strategic Business Unit Leaders
•Global Service Managers
•Industrial EVP
•Operational Managers / Executives in the Region

This individual will support the existing laboratory businesses in terms of delivery of revenue growth and improved profitability through operational excellence and pricing discipline. All progressive activities will align with the wider laboratory and industrial division platforms while understanding the need for individual bespoke development in specific geographies.

Assure effective delivery of the services with the highest levels of technical integrity while working with the affiliate network to ensure efficient deployment of resources to maintain sustainable levels of competence and delivery. Integrate process and technology innovation with a focus on client value, industry partnerships and regulatory developments.

Enhance the development of network of laboratories and support the global team in identifying acquisition target and participate at the technical due diligence.

It’s the responsibility of the individual to provide practical and strategic value for the Region in line with the below “added value matrix”. The individual is not expected to be an expert in very area but must have broad based experience with direct capability or aptitude to assemble the right resources to deliver value and problem solve.

A significant portion of time in the initial months after hire will be allocated to project management of the “Pricing Initiative” which has global outreach for the Industrial labs.

The position also requires a global matrix role for one of the primary laboratory revenue stream, which in the case of the Americas position would be “Metallurgy and Materials Science”. 


•Global Manager for Laboratories - Industrial


•Project management of pricing project and roll out of developed pricing models within the Region.
•Upscale the portfolio of services offered within the region and work with the SBU leaders and the key affiliates in the global network to ensure best practice is being imported and exported.
•Form key technical teams both Regional and Global for Metallurgy and Materials so we have well defined Subject Matter Experts.
•Assure that the laboratories are set up and deliver services in line with group quality policies and accreditation requirements. Expansions of key accreditations like NADCAP where commercially feasible.
•Assist with development of “Advanced Materials” services for Additive Manufacturing processing and composite materials.
•Assist with formulation and deployment of robust LIMS solutions / strategy to enable competitive parity / advantages.
•Support the management team in identifying acquisition target and participate actively during the due diligence and the integration post acquisition.

Job Requirements


•A seasoned and enthusiastic team player with excellent communication skills, analytical mind and still keen to develop both personally and professionally. Must display a high level of emotional intellect and be “customer focused” both internal and external. A capable problem solver and able to contribute to business decisions at a strategic level while challenging the status quo. A strong knowledge of the Laboratory services is a prerequisite.

•Minimum 10 years in the laboratory business covering multiple positions such as technical, commercial, operational and executive. International / Multi location experience with business development, operations and client relations is heavily advantageous.

•Education: Technical / Degree. MBA is considered useful but not essential. Formal Leadership training / coaching is attractive. Solid Technical Background.
