Job Description

Health Language is seeking a highly qualified Engagement Manager for our Client Services team. Reporting directly to the Manager, Client Engagements, the Engagement Manager must have proven project management, customer relationship, business development, and information technology experience, and will ensure the successful implementation of our business and project initiatives, as well as grow relationships with current and prospective customers and business partners.


• Drive the successful delivery of product, content, and service solutions to HL clients.
• Develop project plans and use appropriate verification techniques to manage changes in scope, schedule, and costs.
• Develop and follow consistent processes to meet key metrics that measure mutual success for Health Language and our clients.
• Act as internal team facilitator to ensure project deliverables are met.
• Function collaboratively in matrix and/or cross-functional teams.
• Monitor customer and project success and risk factors with a proactive approach and ability to escalate to leadership when necessary.
• Facilitate activities that address a specific customer’s needs to achieve full utilization and value from HL products while maximizing revenues and profit to HL.
• Maintain regular and proactive communication to clients to ensure the quality of service and expectations are being met and to ensure customers are getting the expected value from the HL products.
• Understand and track the performance goals for each client and meet with each to review their current status on a regular basis.
• Assist in establishing and maintaining ongoing business relationships with customers and business partners.
• Understand and use project management tools, techniques, and processes for planning, scheduling, controlling, tracking, and reporting.
• Facilitate the resolution of client issues. Work with the support desk, technical teams, and leverage industry knowledge to develop creative solutions.
• Channel communication from the client effectively through HL, insuring a timely response to all parties involved.
• Create and maintain the appropriate level of project documentation.

Job Requirements


• Bachelor’s Degree preferred, or equivalent experience required.

Required Experience:

• 5 to 7+ years’ experience with a combination of project management, customer relationship management, business development, and information technology.
• Previous experience documenting customer use case and requirements.
• Intermediate to advanced level skills with MS Office; Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook.

Preferred Experience:

• Experience working in the healthcare information industry or data migration, data modeling, medical informatics experience and/or exposure to use of healthcare terminologies is preferred.
• Experience with a project management tool such as OpenAir or MS Project preferred.

• Demonstrates assertiveness and confidence, integrity, professionalism. Has a proven track record on dynamic results-oriented teams.
• Ability to engage and enthuse an organization to accomplish enterprise goals. A “roll up your sleeves” approach. Unselfish team-player.
• Effective communicator & presenter. Ability to present business and technical results clearly, completely and accurately.
• Strong negotiation, presentation, and listening skills. Must have the credibility, technical knowledge and commercial maturity necessary to give high-quality input and presentations.
• An innovative team player. A relentless problem-solver who takes initiative and is a business oriented strategic thinker. Ability to identify and assess alternatives. Excellent interpersonal skills will be needed in order to build strong relationships.
• Creative ability to get to “yes” in situations rather than simply presenting reasons not to deliver. Have a “we can’t do X because of Y, but we can do Z” mindset that seeks solutions.

Travel Requirements:

• Ability to travel up to 25% required.
