Job Description

Heart Care Centers of Illinois, a multi-site network of cardiovascular providers, currently has an opening for a Float Registered Nurse with a proven track record of adaptability, initiative, and teamwork who will be responsible for assisting in the day to day operation of one of our clinics.

 

Job Description:

 

The RN is responsible for implementing the nursing care process in our outpatient offices in accordance with physician orders and established policies and procedures, including checking patients for provider appointments, reviewing and completing preventative health measures, patient education, telephone triage, testing supervision, and providing nursing treatments as required.  In this role, the RN will:

  • Triage patient telephone calls which includes ranking patients' health problems according to their urgency, educating and advising patients, and making safe, effective, and appropriate dispositions to help determine what type of care is needed; advise physicians as required.        
  • Review testing results for accuracy and physician review/signature; apprise patients of testing results after physician review, educate patient on results and assist patient with any additional follow-up required per physician orders.
  • Schedule procedures/testing (i.e., CT scan, cardiac caths) for assigned physicians, including getting insurance pre-authorization as required by insurance companies. Supervise on-site patient stress testing as required by HCCI procedures and protocols.
  • Document patient calls in EMR system
  • Cross-train in both Coumadin and Lipid Clinic nursing and fills in as needed; assist Clinical Site Manager in other duties as requested.

Job Requirements

  • Graduate of an accredited nursing program and current IL RN licensure
  • BLS/ACLS certifications required
  • Minimum of 3 years nursing experience required, preferably in private practice specializing in cardiology and/or hospital experience in an ER/ICU
  • Minimum  1-2 years  experience in anticoagulation therapies
  • Excellent relationship development skills
  • Strong organizational, time management, and communication skills
