Job Description

Stephens Little Inc. has partnered with a growing International medical device company in search of a Purchasing Manager. This position will report to the COO. This position will be an integral part of the team and will wear a number of hats. 

This position is responsible for directing and coordinating activities related to the purchasing of materials, equipment, inventory supplies, and services directly or through subordinate staff.

Responsibilities include:

1. Manages and oversees overall Supply Chain Management, including purchasing and inventory of materials/goods as well as selection of vendors or suppliers. Make recommendations to improve productivity, quality, and efficiency of operations.
2. Provide guidance for a smooth workflow of priority and routine tasks.
3. Establish goals and set up key performance indicators to measure departmental performance. Develop metrics for supplier performance and overall purchasing performance.
4. Recruit and maintain suppliers that provide high quality yet competitively priced products and services, while maintaining the highest code of ethics and conduct. Negotiate with suppliers to ensure the best balance of cost, quality, and service.
5. Maintain master data for purchased material and goods, including safety stock level, order quantities, prices, lead-times, etc.
6. Prepare and/or review purchase orders for approval and issuance to meet company requirements.
7. Resolve major material problems that may arise with suppliers or vendor
8. Support and promote Supply Chain Management initiatives.
9. Monitor compliance with contractual requirements.
10. Review progress of activities and initiate corrective actions when necessary.
11. Assist Research and Development, New Product Development group with strategies, procedures for launching new products for manufacturing/production.
12. Assist in acquiring necessary suppliers, material, product related to new product development and launch.
13. Perform duties in compliance with ISO 13485 and FDA QSR’s requirements.
14. Other duties and responsibilities as assigned.

Job Requirements

The requirements for the Purchasing Manager are:

1. Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience
2. Minimum of 5 years of experience and/or training in Purchasing or Procurement; or equivalent combination of education and experience
3. Minimum of 3 years of supervisory experience.
4. Must be PC literate and have the aptitude to learn application software.
5. Must have excellent communication and organizational skills with attention to detail.
6. Must have strong work ethic and interpersonal skills.

Skills & Abilities: 
1. Manage multiple projects concurrently, meet deadlines, and follow-up in a timely manner through excellent organizational, planning, and multi-tasking skills.
2. Strong functional knowledge of ERP systems.
3. Ability to read controlled specifications and engineering drawings.
4. React to time constraints and overcome objections effectively.
5. Solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists.
6. Develop subordinate’s skills and encourage growth, providing direction and feedback.
7. Interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
8. Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
