Job Description

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Oversee fulfillment of prescription orders for Specialty and Complex / REMS products

  • Oversee staff performing various duties related to the fulfillment of specialty prescription orders; the specialty pharmacy staff (20+) reporting to this supervisor will be involved in all facets of dispensing and counseling for all Specialty disease states

  • Responsible for pharmacy and call center operations, dispensing activities for specialty pharmaceuticals and infusion products and supplies, and various clinical management program

  • Ongoing review Clinical Management Program for appropriateness and suggest enhancements.

  • Handle and resolve escalated cases. Consults with customers, patients and / or physicians regarding proper use of medications and potential drug interactions

  • Reviews and approves / denies requests for prescription prior authorizations

  • Implementation and ongoing review of policies and procedures for operational improvement, safe procurement, storage, distribution and safe use and disposal of drugs and biologicals

  • Participates in quality improvement, utilization review, clinical activities and / or patient education as needed

  • Work collaboratively with peers across multiple  national and regional sites

  • Mentor and educate Pharmacists / staff on best practice

  • Ensure that REM requirements are met as well as timelines related to FDA, State, manufacturer requirements



Required Qualifications:

  • BS / BA Pharmacy
  • Current, unrestricted California Pharmacist License
  • 3 or more years of experience as Pharmacist

  • Specialty or Clinical Pharmacy background

Preferred Qualifications:

  •  Pharm D
  • 1 or more year of operational management experience

  • ETASU and REMS experience

  • PBM, Managed care, Health plan experience
