Northrop Grumman Innovation Systems designs, builds and delivers space, defense and aviation-related systems to customers around the world. Our main products include launch vehicles and related propulsion systems; missile products, subsystems and defense electronics; precision weapons, armament systems and ammunition; satellites and associated space components and services; and advanced aerospace structures.
Northrop Grumman Innovation Systems is currently seeking an Administrative Assistant for our Engineering department in our Elkton, Maryland office.
The Northrop Grumman Innovation Systems Missile Defense and Controls (MD&C) facility in Elkton, Maryland began solid-propellant rocket operations in 1948. Today, the Elkton MD&C facility designs, develops, and produces solid-propellant propulsion and ordnance systems in programs professionally managed for a wide variety of Government and commercial customers. The facility also serves as the hub for offsite engineering and test facilities in Ronkonkoma, NY, Palm Beach Gardens, FL and San Jose, CA.
Position provides organizational and administrative support for the Engineering Product Design and Verification Director and immediate building staff for the Missile Defense & Controls business in Elkton. Support will be provided to the Director and his organization, Avionics, Systems Engineering, staff occupying the building where the Admins office is located, and to the Engineering Department when other Admins are out on PTO. The position resides in the Analysis and Systems Engineering building (temp office structure). The position requires periodic support in a Laboratory environment.

• Represent NGIS/MD&C in a courteous and professional manner when interacting with staff and customers
• Prepare/track metrics charts of department performance
• Maintain Engineering SharePoint sites
• Prepare travel arrangements and generate/track expense reports
• Conduct Laboratory operating procedure updates
• Conduct monthly Laboratory propellant inventories
• Order and track office supplies and monitor inventory
• Assist building manager with work requests and maintenance issues
• Create and process purchase requisitions and reconcile cost data monthly

• Submit purchase orders for engineering software purchases

• Track spending and plan future expenses

• Arrange meetings and conferences including external visitors

• Ability to set up Webex conferencing

• Manage arrangements for food/beverage and other resources for meetings as necessary, both onsite and offsite
• Support Security in managing classified meetings
• Sort/distribute mail for the various areas
• Maintain management schedules and resolve scheduling conflicts
• Assist with presentations, correspondence, reports, etc. and other duties as assigned to support Engineering work


• Must be able to obtain a security clearance with the US GovernmentExcellent interpersonal skills
• Demonstrated ability to provide service excellence and reliability
• Strong organizational skills and ability to multitask
• Good oral and written communication skills
• Quick learning ability
• Capability to work independently and in a fast paced team driven environment
• Excellent computer skills, including proficiency in MS Office suite and other basic software
• Demonstrated ability to work effectively with Team Center/SharePoint, Webex, etc.
• Ability to learn Deltek Costpoint; existing working knowledge is a plus

Education: HS Diploma, 2 years of administrative/clerical experience or similar, AA or BA/BS degree preferred
Security Clearance: Applicants selected will be subject to a government security investigation and must meet eligibility requirements for access to classified information.
