POSITION SUMMARY:

This position is responsible for interviewing and aiding individuals and families requiring assistance from community action agencies. The position works as an advocate for clients by establishing goals and creating plans to help them reach self-sufficiency. The position assists the clients in following the plan and revises the plan as necessary.  

                                                                                                                                                                                   

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Interviews clients in order to determine eligibility to receive supportive services

  • Performs assessments to identify barriers to self-sufficiency and provides life skill tools/resources to remove those barriers

  • Facilitates the client intake process by examining client identification and income documentation

  • Establishes and summarizes client plan for transitioning client out of poverty 

  • Compiles client records, establishes confidential client file, and prepares related periodic reports in a timely manner

  • Coordinates relationships with vendors in order to simplify and ensure proper and timely payments for services to clients

  • Coordinates and establishes services to clients received as referrals from the emergency services area

  • Enters client data into Client Tracking System

  • Participates in and attends Outreach and Community Events on behalf of the Client Services Department

  • Complies with all agency, state, and federal regulations relating to the provision of services to eligible clients

  • Adheres to all agency policies and acts as a role model in the adherence to those policies

  • Performs other duties as assigned                                 

                                                                                                                                                     

Job Requirements

QUALIFICATIONS:

To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily.  The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill and/or ability required.                                     

Education/Experience:

Bachelor’s Degree preferred with at least one year of experience working in a customer service related role; High School Diploma or GED required with at least five years experience working in a customer service related role.
